Bread Pudding

• Ingredients
• milk
• 3 eggs
• salt
• cinnamon
• honey
• brown sugar
• vanilla extract
• lemon juice
• french bread
• apples
• chopped nuts
• Recipe
• Beat well together:
• 3 cups milk (720g)
• 3 eggs
• ¹/₂ tsp salt
• ¹/₂ tsp cinnamon
• 3 tbsps honey (63g)
• 2 tbsps brown sugar (24g)
• 2 tsps vanilla extract
• 1 tbsp lemon juice (15g), or from 1/2 lemon
• Mix together in a 9"x13" pan:
• 4 cups french bread, stale and coarsely crumbled
• 1¹/₂ cups apples, grated
• ¹/₂ cup chopped nuts
• Pour the first mixture into the pan and push around with a spoon until it's evenly combined. Bake 35 minutes. Serve with milk or ice cream. Notes: can bake fresh bread briefly in 150-degree oven if stale bread is unavailable. May add 1/2 c. dried fruit. CNM suggests substituting sherry for lemon juice.
